PRE-ALGEBRAIC THINKING --FINDING SIDE RELATIONSHIPS (15 minutes)

1. Show Fitz D. Pieces -Graphic. Instruct participants to make Fitz, the Triangle Monster, using all 8 of Dr. Super's Triangle pieces.

2. As participants begin their work, Show Directions for Fitz D Pieces. It has three numbered statements.

a. Statement 1 gives the written instructions to cover the puzzle with the 8 pieces.

b. Statement 2 gives the written instruction for FINDING and writing in English sentences relationships for the sides of Dr. Super's Triangles.

c. Statement 3 asks the question, "How many ways can you rearrange Dr. Super's Triangle pieces to get a different solution?
