Notes
There is an old Unix point and click version of the choropleth mapping and smoothing program
This little known software was developed in 1994 and has been on the anonymous ftp site for years.
The database covers
many cancer sites and three decades. It has never been
been complete.
For example it does not have data for blacks even though that is a menu item
It is easy to add data.
The software will map health services areas as well as states.
The database has only one data set for this resolution:
white male colon cancer for one time period.
The extension to county data is straight forward.
The plan was to add other spatial smoothers for comparison purposes
Feedback about bugs and better coding is
often appreciated may result in improvments.
