Hung Tri Le

Dr. Hung T. Le is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Applied Statistics at George Mason University and Senior Consultant with Fannie Mae where he is responsible for managing the corporate technology environment and developing technology strategic directions to support Fannie Mae's business operations. Born in Saigon, Vietnam, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1975. In 1982, he later received his bachelor's degree with Distinction in electrical engineering from the University of Virginia. In 1984, he received a Masters degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland. He then joined IBM and worked in the research and development of signal and image processing algorithms for underwater acoustics systems. He received his Ph.D's degree in Computational Statistics from George Mason University under the direction of Dr. Edward J. Wegman in 1989.

Dr. Le has published numerous articles in signal processing and intelligent simulation. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, the American Statistical Association, and the Operations Research Society of America. Dr. Le is tri-lingual and is very active in community service. He has helped organize cultural events, train and teach new Americans to become self-sufficient. He helped initiate a news bulletin to advocate for the protection of refugee rights and human dignity in 1989, and was the former Editor-in-Chief. He served as President of the non-profit Vietnamese Youth Cultural Organization of Washington Metropolitan, a organization that fosters youth leadership, and promotes Vietnamese culture. Presently, he serves on the Minority Advisory Board of George Mason University.

Recognizing his professional achievements and his contribution to community and cultural activities, he was honored as one of 32 National Finalists by the President's Commission on White House Fellowship Competition in 1991. Dr. Le has also been selected for one of the top four national awards in the Outstanding Young Electrical Engineer Award Program by the 1991 Jury of Award. At IBM Manassas, he has received a number of Author Recognition awards for his contribution to technical vitality and recognitions for his contribution to the Cost Effectiveness and Quality Program.
