
Donald T. Gantz
Professor Donald T. Gantz received the A.B. degree from Fordham University
in 1966, and the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Rochester,
the latter degree in 1974. All degrees were in Mathematics. He is a
research associate in both the Center for Computational Statistics and
the Transportation Center. As an applied statistician, Dr. Gantz has
had considerable experience in the development of management decision
systems and in litigation related analyses. He is an expert in the
presentation of quantitative analysis to decision makers. He was a
member of a research team funded by the Federal Highway Administration
to find alternatives for funding transportation improvements in Northern
Virginia. He designed and built a computer-based decision support system
to evaluate funding alternatives. He has been funded by the Federal
Highway Administration to develop an Integrated Traveler Information
System at Tyson's Corner Virginia. He has worked steadily since 1982
on the application of estimation and control methods to the analysis
of flight test data. He also has been funded by the Office of Naval
Research to develop and test a methodology to analyze flight test data
to evaluate a vehicle's handling qualities. He has done considerable
work, research, and lecturing in computer performance evaluation and
capacity planning for large commercial data centers. Throughout his
years as an applied statistician, he has been involved with survey
design, analysis and reporting. Dr. Gantz is Professor of Applied and
Engineering Statistics.
