STAT 677/OR 677 Statistical Process Control
(3:3:0). Prerequisite: STAT 610 or STAT 554
or equivalent or permission of instructor. The theory and methodology of
demonstrating that systems or processes are in a state of statistical control.
Topics include chance and assignable causes, monitoring time series, inferring
statistical control and detection of both temporary and persistent shifts in
process output. Examples are presented from quality control, both in
manufacturing and the service sector, and in other applications ranging from
hydrology to fraud detection.
