ABSTRACT

This lecture will discuss what IARPA is, why it has been created, and what the opportunities will be for academia to play a role in its mission. The speaker is Dr. Lisa Porter who joined the Office of the Director of National Intelligence as the first director IARPA. The selection of the director of IARPA is a key piece of the Intelligence Community's 500 Day Plan for Integration and Collaboration. Dr. Porter was formerly with NASA and DARPA. Her degrees are from MIT and Stanford University. This lecture will be an important opportunity for faculty and students alike to understand the mission and workings of a brand new funding agency. While not a seminar in the usual series of colloquia, attendance is strongly recommended. For this reason, a traditional statistics colloquium will not be held this week. Credit for organizing this briefing goes to the Center for Secure Information Systems.
