Two factors limiting the potential of
visualization in intrusion detection are:
- knowledge and expertise in intrusion detection are scattered among individual
researchers and network operators;
- much knowledge is implicit, i.e. it is not expressed.
CROMDI will take advantage of such an incredible opportunity of a gathering of experts in intrusion detection, in order to perform domain analysis during the workshop. This will be the first step towards codifying available knowledge and creating mental models to successfully develop visualizations for intrusion detection.
During the workshop we will perform interviews
to the workshop participants
to extract heuristic implicit and explicit knowledge and a collection
of working methodologies for intrusion detection.
We will:
- describe the rationale and plan for our work,
- organize and schedule the interviews.
