
Enders Robinson
Enders holds an endowed chair at Columbia University as well as having been elected as
a member of the National Academy of Engineering. His specialization seems to be about
everything from relativity to statistics. He direct technical area is in explorational
seismology. He often visits us in the summer.

Mary Ann Hill was a frequent visitor in the early days of statistics at George Mason.
As an employee of SYSTAT, she came to give short courses. Here she is shown during one
of her SYSTAT lectures.
What can one say about Jim Thompson? Always opinionated and thoughtful, his outspoken
talks sometimes draw strong feelings. We do not issue hardhats to most of our visitors
but in Jim's case.... Actually he is shown here during on a visit during the construction
of the George W. Johnson Center, a 320,000 square foot facility on campus.
Andera was a vistor from the University of Aachen in Germany. She worked on a thesis
focusing on the commercial uses of the internet, particularly characterizing the
demographic differences between U.S. and German users. Andera visited in the
Spring of 1996.
Ehsan is Professor of Statistics at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. His statistical
specialty is statistical information theory and Bayesian methods. He visited us during
the Spring semester of 1996.
Adi holds an appointment at
the University of Augsburg in Augsburg, Germany where he also earned his Ph.D.
in 1988. Adi visited the Center for Computational Statistics under our NSF
Group Infrastructure Grant during the 1997-1998 academic year. He was working on
his habilitation. He has been developing his work on statistical graphics and
visualization after completing his Ph.D. in design of experiments. He also has
a biosketch online.
