
Jan Guenther, the First Administrative Assistant for the Center, 1987-1988
Jan was the first Administrative Assistant for the Center for Computational Statistics. Shown here
in 1988, she also served as the lead administrator for the first Interface Symposium
under the auspices of the Interface Foundation of North America. This symposium was held
in April, 1988. Jan's husband, Otto Guenther, is a Lieutenant General in the U.S. Army.

Liz Quigley, the Second Administrative Assistant for the Center, 1988-1989
Liz was the Second Administrative Assistant for the Center for Computational Statistics.
Shown here with Dr. Wegman in the summer, 1989. Liz returned in Fall, 1995
and is currently the Secretary for the Department of Applied and Engineering Statistics.
Liz's husband Tom is a Colonel in the U.S. Army.
Liz is shown here with Patricia Joyce and Peggy Ligon. Peggy worked for the Center during the
1988-1989 academic year as a secretary.

Barbara Barringer, the Third Administrative Assistant for the Center, 1989-1993
Barbara was the Third Administrative Assistant for the Center. This picture is from
1991. Barbara's husband, Rich, is a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. Barbara left when Rich was
stationed in Turkey.

Duane King, Computer Engineer
Duane serves as a computer engineer for the Institute for Computational Sciences and Informatics.
He has been active with Intel Supercomputers and lectures on parallel computing as
well as UNIX and C. Photo about 1987.
Left to right, Duane, Masood Bolorforoush and Ed Wegman. Masood worked with the
Center very early in its existence, 1986-1988, as a computer engineer and set up our
first UNIX systems.

Qiang Luo, Computer Engineer
Qiang is also a computer engineer with the Institute. Qiang works closely with
the Silicon Graphics platforms and is an expert on statistical computer graphics.
